How to Buy with Confidence in Oyster River

Know the market

If you close your eyes and imagine the quintessential New England college town, chances are, you’ve re-created life as we know it here in Durham. Just 30 minutes to beaches in both Maine and New Hampshire, an hour from Boston and 90 minutes to the White Mountains, the townships of Oyster River are full of their own activities, too.

While that is great news for current residents, it makes becoming a resident a bit more difficult. With such a competitive market, home values are up and new listings don’t spend much time on the market before they go under contract.

Working with an experienced, local real estate agent makes a difference. As a member of the community, I often know about properties that are coming to the market before they’re officially offered for sale. I’m also clear about the true values of homes in this area and what may or may not qualify for the type of loan you’ve been approved for. I will work to make sure we are both competitive and efficient so opportunities don’t pass you by.

HOMES BOUGHT WITH JOHANNA RIGHT HERE IN OYSTER RIVER

“My husband and I were first-time buyers. Johanna was more than willing to go with us to see what is now our house a bazillion times. She went above and beyond. Answered every phone call and every question (probably more than once). She even dropped boxes off at our house. She was a pleasure to work with. If we ever consider selling our home, she’s who I’ll go to!”

Frequently asked questions

Should I talk to a lender before looking at homes?

Yes. Especially if you’re a first time home buyer! Lenders will give you information about the different types of loans available to you, and they’ll also be able to tell you the amount you’re eligible to borrow. Additionally, if we go to a showing and you find 'the one', we won't have to wait on the bank before submitting an offer.

What benefits are there to using a buyer’s agent?

The list agent works for the seller, a buyer’s agent works for you. As my client, your interests are advocated for, protected and your best case scenario is my top priority.

Do you work with clients who are buying and selling outside of the Oyster River district?

Absolutely! I’m licensed in both NH and Maine and a solid third of my business has always come from the seacoast area and beyond. If you have questions about the process, I would be delighted to talk to you more!
